Go Hawks!

Good Sunday morning! We hope everyone is having a super weekend so far. As everyone knows, today is Super Bowl Sunday. It's been pretty exciting out here. Everything, and we mean everything, has been decked out in Seahawks paraphernalia. It's been Blue Friday for the last two weeks. OK, it's been the entire season. So, I guess it's a good thing the Patriots aren't playing because we don't have to choose who to root for. Not that it was much of a choice out here. So, in honor of today's game, we made a little banner to hang on our mantle:

It's a totally girly way to show who we're rooting for. (We did make a Patriots one a few weeks ago, too, in hopes that they would make it today, as well.)

 Here are the spacers and the two ends.  Our little football player is showing his 12th Man pride, of course. And the middle spacer has some sparkle, of course! Unfortunately, the green isn't quite the "right" color, but it works!
Hopefully there will be more celebrating tonight and tomorrow. If not, it's going to be a sad state. Oh, and it's Groundhog Day! Apparently we will have six more weeks of winter. If the next few weeks are anything like the rest of this winter, we can't complain too much. Now, it's a bummer if you live in the rest of the country...

Santa's Coming?!

Happy hump day! We hope everyone is having a super day so far. Luckily, it's already Wednesday and a few days closer to another weekend. We have never been guilty of rushing anything. The weekend, the holidays. Nope, not us! So, while taking a few minutes out of our orders, (and a need for change), we made a quick banner.

This banner matches the bags we made yesterday. It reads "Happy Holidays". The banner is pretty basic, with a few embellishments. We were fortunate enough to find the perfect paper to use in our scrap stash. It probably wouldn't have been used for anything else. Below are pictures of the letters, with some glitter on each, the Santa in the middle, that matches the bags, and the poinsettia on the ends, that match yesterday's tags.

 Santa has his googly eyes and spakley white trim, which is a bit hard to see. The poinsettia on the two ends have rhinestones in the center.
The plan is to create a few new matching items. Hopefully they'll be done before the holidays!

Loads of Birthday Wishes

Happy Friday! We hope everyone had a wonderful week. We've had a super week and found some time to make a project or two for ourselves. Not much, other than a few cards here and there. But hopefully the weekend will be filled with something more exciting :)
Anyway, today is our little cousin's birthday. The little cutie is having a construction themed birthday (thanks Pinterest!), so we decided to make him a construction-themed card.

This card went through a few different phases- sizes, designs, shapes, etc. We wanted the front of the card to have his name and age on it, so that was a given. Our dilemma was what to do on the inside of  the card. We didn't want the words to be seen through the front of the card. So we added another layer:

We wanted to include the dump truck somewhere, so we chose this inside layer. And, of course, we added dots and layers, for that special touch! The third layer was the simplest one, with just a simple "happy birthday" note to the little guy:

We're Celebrating Oktoberfest!

Guten tag! We hope everyone is having a wonderful Wednesday! It's been a pretty great day for us. The sun is shining and the creativity is flowing- can't get much better than that! (In our opinion, at least!)
I know it's a little later than normal, but here is today's project. As you can tell from the title, we have created an Oktoberfest party. It may not be for another few weeks, but it never hurts to start early!

This came to fruition the other day as we were driving around town and saw that they were having their own Oktoberfest celebration. It helps that, until a few years ago, there used to be a brewery in town, I guess. And what better way to celebrate our German heritage?! Below is a collage of some of the projects:

How cute are the little kiddies?! They pop up here and there in the projects, along with a few other designs. Like the German flag and a barrel!

Happy Hanukkah Card

Hey there! Today's project is a fun card for Hanukkah. It started as 3- 4x12 inch rectangles. Each one was scored every three inches, so they are now 4x4 in squares. I glued the ends of them together, so I had 9 squares in all. There are then 9 candles, one shamash or "helper" and 8 more for each night. 

Here is a close up of the card. You can't really tell in them, but the silver is pretty awesome. It's super sparkly, which adds awesome to any project! And the card folds back into itself.

Tea Bag Ornament Card

Good morning! It is, sadly, the last week of summer vacation. Where did the time go?! But we have an awesome Christmas card to share with you today. Here's the front of the card. It's a pretty simple card, but the ornament is the star of the card.

And here's the ornament, taken off of the card. It's a "tea bag fold" ornament, which looks impressive, but was really easy to put together with lots of folds. Santa is glittered, but next time, I would do a different image, since this didn't work quite as well as I had hoped. Oh well.

Ghosty Center Step Card

Today we have a fun little card to share with you. We used it as an "invitation" to a Halloween party, but it is definitely cute enough to use for any other uses, like just saying hello!

 We made the front center flap open up to reveal a little poem on the inside. And all of the party information is on the other inside.

Reindeer Family Card

Good Friday morning! I hope everyone had a great week and has some fun weekend plans. Today's project is a really simple Chrstmas card I whipped up in less than 5 minutes, which makes it one that you can send out to everyone, not just the Christmas card A-List. And the kiddos get to help out on this one!

The reindeer faces are simply brown ink thumbprints, with the ears and horns drawn in with marker. The eyes could also be drawn in, but I just love googly eyes and think they make everything 1000 times cuter. Then the noses are just red jewel embellishments and a rub-on sentiment. The nose could be drawn in too, but again, cards look better with a little bling, right? And to make it even quicker to make, the sentiment can be printed out, right to the card. The inside of the card says, "From Our Family to Yours." I love that it can be so customizable and that the kids can make their own reindeer.

Halloween Gatefold Invitation

Hey there! I hope everyone is having a fantastic week so far, enjoying the waning days of summer before school starts again. Today I have a very simple card to share with you!

It is a gatefold card, set up as a party invitation! Who wouldn't want to be invited to a party where the animals are dressed up?! (Reminds me of one of our aunts, but not in the best way... story for another day) I welded the three shapes together in craftroom (rectangle and two matching frames) and cut it in black. The top layer was just the frames cut again. The flap wasn't staying down all the way, so the "It's a Party!" is there for gravity to pull it back closed.

I stamped and embossed the "bewitching hour" and tried to color in the moon and stars. Neon yellow doesn't do a great job covering brown. Who knew? At least the moon looks good enough. Also, I have realized that no matter what the project, I should always have someone else do the handwriting. Mine always looks so sloppy. You'd think as someone who teaches kids how to form letters I would be better, or at least neater! Sometimes I try to make it look fancy and it ends up looking kind of foolish. I should probably stick to Photoshop or Word. Oh well...

Simple Snowflake Christmas Card

Today we have a very simple Christmas card to share with you. It's a 5x5 square, with each smaller square measuring 1.5 inches. The snowflakes are some brads we've had, waiting for something to put them on! Even though it took less than 10 minutes to put together, it packs a pretty punch.

It's Friday!

Happy Friday! I hope everyone had a fantastic week and has some fun plans! We have some family coming out to visit this weekend, on their Western vacation, so we're looking forward to them coming. And we also have other news to share. We're getting an addition to our family, now that our brother is engaged to his girlfriend! So to celebrate, we made today's card for the happy couple.

The inside says, "Once in a while, right in the middle of an ordinary life, love gives us a fairytale." It's perfect for the two of them! My favorite part is definitely the "diamond" ring.

"Thankful For You" Banner

Good morning! I hope everyone is having a fantastic week so far. We've been making decorations for around the house this week. Even though it's early, we started putting some things up to add some color around the apartment. And we definitely beat our mom and SIL, since they've been in "competition for earliest decorator" for the last few years. Here's one of the banners we made.

As you can see in the close up, there are a lot of little pieces in this one, but it was definitely worth it. And the best part was that I didn't lose any of the pieces! I love how colorful it is.

Happy Anniversary, Part 2!

Today's card is for our brother and sister-in-law's 8th anniversary. It was over the weekend, but we wanted to make sure she didn't see it on the blog before she got it in the mail. Don't want to ruin any surprises, right? Here's a look at the card flat. It's a little hard to tell in the pictures, but we used a bronze paper, since that's the 8th anniversary "gift" and pink is her favorite color.

Warm Winter Wishes (in August)

"Celebrate" Christmas Card

Hey There! Happy Friday! Today's project is a really simple, but elegant, Christmas card. I love the white-on-white look for cards, especially for Christmas.

 I had to add just a little color, because I really liked the ornament embellishment. Not only does it look fancy, but it has the sentiment right there! Doesn't really get any easier than this. The white layer is embossed with the Christmas Countdown folder. And I wanted to use my sparkly pens, so I colored in one holly. Next time, I think I'll keep to the white and just print a sentiment on the strip.

Snowman "Joy Fold" Card

Hey there! Sure, it's August and 80 degrees outside, but today's project is a cute card with a fun little snowman!

It doesn't look like much flat, but when it's standing up, it definitely packs a visual punch. I'm not sure where I found the directions for this, but they were saved as "Joy Fold," so we'll go with that.

 

There are two different folded cards, with the smaller one glued on top of the bigger. We've been trying to clean out our stash of embellishments, and the snowman was a great find in there! Usually I don't like using them since there's only one of each, and who knows when a different project will come up, but it's time to use them up. Here's a picture of the top flap open.

The sentiment is another embellishment box find.

Washi Christmas Cards

Good morning everyone! I hope this week is going well . Today's project are some really quick Christmas cards we whipped together.

These are 5x7 cards, with a 4.5" gingerbread and ornament cut out. We found the ridiculously adorable Washi tape (on sale) at Michael's, and just had to use it. This was my first time using the tape on a project, so it's not the absolute best, but it still looks pretty good. The bright colors aren't your traditional colors for Christmas, but they work for me!

Have a Bewitching Halloween

Today we have another Halloween card to share with you. We have been in the Halloween mood, even though there are still three months left. It's never too early to start, right?

This is a really neat folded card. It's diamond folded, so it's more interesting than a regular folded card. It started off as a 12x4 strip, and folds down to 4x4. There isn't a lot of writing room on it, but that's alright since the sentiment is embossed on the front.

Spa Gift Set

Happy Friday, everyone! I hope the week went by pretty quick for you. I know it did here. We have a busy week coming up with family visiting!! We're definitely looking forward to that, and I know they are too, since they will be getting a reprieve from the Texas heat!
Anyway, today's project is perfect for a Friday afternoon, or weekend, or any time, really. We made this super cute relaxation kit for our brother's girlfriend's birthday.

 

We figured that after having to deal with our brother all the time, she needed something to help her relax! This box has everything she needs, except the wine, but only because they frown up sending wine through the mail... We were busy in the kitchen making the various scrubs and bath salts (not the drug kind, don't worry!) and decorated the mason jars with little labels. Michael's had some great finds in their Dollar Spot, or whatever they call it with all of their matching items. We went with the purple and teal color scheme, and found a really cute matching box, which is just a photo box.

The card to go with it is a 5x7 with a chica in the same color scheme. Since no birthday card is complete without some glitter, we added some to the bathtub to make the bubbles look extra inviting.

 

 Here are the box and card together. I hope she enjoys some alone time with it!

Happy Birthday Cards

I hope everyone is having a great week so far! Just a couple more days till the weekend. We have some birthday cards to share today. We made three in coordinating brights, even though the camera didn't really do them justice.

 

The cards are A2 (4 1/4x5 1/2). They are sort-of shape cards that you can see in these two pictures.

But the fun part was making the embossed frosting. After some practice, I got it to look pretty smooth. I guess my paper cakes are like my actual cakes, when the frosting isn't quite right, but still looks pretty good. The finishing touch was a little puffy paint on the candle flame.
