Fall Cupcakes

We spent today making some delicious cupcakes. The first batch we made were apple spice. They had tons of apples in them, but their tops sunk a little, so they weren't quite as nice as we would have liked. We made a caramel cream cheese icing to put on top. We also made a batch of pumpkin cupcakes. In years past, we tried making pumpkin cupcakes, but there were probably the best tasting ones yet! These were topped with an almond cream cheese frosting. We then topped each with an apple and pumpkin cut-out, so we could tell which was which!
The first picture is of the apple spice batter. It was nice and thick, with chunks of apple! The second is the finished product.

The first picture is of the pumpkin cupcakes, right out of the oven. The second is the same ones, all dressed up!

My First Completed Quilt!!

Out of the two of us, Robyn has been the one to do all of the sewing projects. Or, at least, she's the one who actually finishes the projects she starts. Last year (I think), I started a quilt that was supposed to be a Christmas present, and then a birthday present. I had everything done, except for the binding. I finally decided that now would be a good time to do it, and finally finished something!! I kind of wish we had this blanket this summer, during those chilly nights camping!! Here is a picture of the finished product!! I kind of want it now...too bad I promised her!!

I think I'll let her do all the sewing still!! Her latest project is SUPER ADORABLE and I wish we could show it off. Not yet!!

A Little Early?

I didn't want to post this yet, since I think it's a little too early still. But then I realized that if the house is all decorated for Halloween, then it shouldn't be a big deal. This is another wall hanging I made, similar to the one yesterday. I think I like this one even better!! There are a few more details that give it a nice touch.
The castle didn't come out exactly like I wanted it to, but it looks good, still. I think my favorite part is the purple rose at the bottom. I don't know if you can tell, but it sparkles. Unlike the vampires. I also like the raven on top of the 'H'. I actually didn't expect it to come out this well! We have a few more projects planned for this weekend, so we'll see how much gets done!!

Happy Fall, Ya'll!!

(In honor of Sarah and Erik, where it doesn't quite feel like fall yet...)
It has felt like fall for the last few days, and now it's finally here! Today starts the best time of the year (in my opinion!) I love being able to sleep with tons of blankets and pumpkin spice coffee, and baking with apples! And the holidays help, too. So, in honor of Fall, here is a project I made for Mom. I saw something similar to it online yesterday and had the urge to make one. I think it fits her personality and decor quite well- simple country.

Texas Project

I don't think we've posted a picture of this project yet, but this is what we were working on when we were down in Dallas. If we did, well, here's another! It is a set of baby clothes for our Cousin and his wife. We tried to design something that was gender-neutral and figured that everyone should have a holiday outfit. So, the baby gets a few for the holidays. With matching bibs! The picture of the card is also below. The white ones also have a little design on the tush, for a nice added touch! There is also a tie-dyed onesie to match. I hope they like it!!

This is the Halloween set. The white says a simple "Trick or Treat", with a pumpkin on the back and a jack-o-lantern tie-dyed onesie. The bib is supposed to be a skeleton, which looks a lot better than I thought!

This is the Thanksgiving set. This one is pretty "plain". The white one says "Happy Thanksgiving" with a little turkey on the back, and the tie-dyed one is brown, red, and orange. This is probably our favorite tie-dyed one. The bib is a turkey gobbler. Not too much to it, but still cute.

This last one is the Winter/Christmas set. The first white one says "Seasons Eatings" with a little gingerbread boy on the back. The other says "Let it Snow", with a snowman on the back. The red and white one is supposed to have peppermints on them, but the paint was a little too thick in some places. The bib is supposed to be Santa's collar. As we were doing it, the paint looked pretty puffy, but once it dried- not so much.

Here is the last picture for today. This is the card that we sent along with the gift. It's another "neutral" item, as long as green is as neutral as I think it is!! It's a cute baby card, with a diaper holder to match (the white piece next to it)! The card fits into the diaper snuggly, and looks adorable together! We can't wait to meet the new baby!!

Thank You's

First of all, we would like to thank everyone for reading our blog. I know that you all had better things to do, and not all of our days were exciting. So, thanks for following us! Hope you enjoyed it. I know we did!! But, it's nice to be home (for a little bit, at least).

Anyway, we have been spending the last few days crafting and catching up on some projects. We have a ton on our list of things to do, but we may finish everything this year, for once! Today's post is a picture of our thank you cards. I think they're mighty cute, and appropriate!

I guess it's a good excuse to re-use those old maps! Thanks again to everyone!!

Day Eighty-Four- All Truths, No Lies

After talking to Luke last night, our plans changed. We were planning on heading up to Pittsburgh, but, unfortunately, it didn't work out. Kind of a bummer because we would have gone driving today, which turned out to be a much nicer day. Anyway, we decided to head home. After 80+ days on the road, the idea of sleeping in our own beds was so tempting! Before we left, we texted Mom and told her what our "plans" were. We told her that we were going for a drive through West Virginia. Not a lie- we just went a little farther. And longer. But, Mom said she wouldn't bother us today. Aunt Debbie played along with us, and just told us to e-mail her when we got to Connecticut. She also said she wouldn't answer if Mom called her. So, at about 9:00, we headed for home. The drive wasn't too bad. We were on back roads for much of the drive, until we got near Wilkes-Barre and Scranton. From there, we got onto I-84 and it was a straight shot home. There wasn't that much traffic in Pennsylvania or New York, really. I think Mom texted once and asked where we were. We told her we were still on the road (also not a lie), and then left us alone again. It was amazing when we got into Connecticut. Not because we missed it so much but because the amount of traffic increased greatly. People were honking for no reason, etc. Such a friendly place... We stopped at the Danbury rest area, which is actually pretty nice (but apparently they're shutting it down. Makes tons of sense...) At around 7:30, we pulled onto our street and decided to give Mom a call. I started talking to her and couldn't stop laughing. It wasn't even that funny. We kept talking until we pulled in the driveway and knocked on the door. All you could hear was, "Bob, get the door, I'm on the phone!!" Dad didn't sound too happy, but answered it anyway. He was quite shocked to see us, and then Mom was like, "Who's there??" and then she realized it was just us. She wasn't very happy with our "lying", but everything was the truth, but she got over it. The rest of the night was spent talking, which went much better than expected. There weren't too many interrogating questions. Now, it is time to sleep in our own beds!! Hopefully we won't be woken up early tomorrow!!
