Merry Chipmas!

Good afternoon! Before we begin, we'd like to apologize for the fact that today is not a Cupcake Saturday post. We'd make up some excuse, like we forgot that it was Saturday, but in actuality, we just didn't want to go to the store...So hopefully tomorrow will be Cupcake Sunday...
Instead, we have a card to share with you today. It is one of our first Christmas cards of the season.

Doesn't it just put a smile on your face?! I feel like holiday cards, no matter what's on them, make you smile. Unless it's just us... This card started off with Mickey Mouse, but one thing led to another, and we settled on Chip. Mostly because he was laying down and fit with the look we were going for.
Anyway... So we made the card into a shaped card. It was a little tough when it came to putting it together on the computer. For some reason, it was just giving us a hard time. Eventually it all came together! So, once everything is said and done, we added some glitter, which adds a nice touch to everything! With that, we are entering the card into a few challenges today:

A Few New Cards

I hope everyone had a fantastic weekend. I know we did. It was a fantastically crafty weekend, getting orders done, redoing our crafty area so it's not spread out over the entire apartment, and getting some new cards finished. We have three to share with you today. (I'm sorry in advance for the terrible lighting in the pictures. I guess my phone didn't want to be cooperative today.)

With Royal Baby Fever at an all-time high today, our first two cards are geared towards a younger crowd.
While neither "royal" or "newborn," they are adorable cards for youngsters. These personalized cards would make great birthday cards, with the child's name and age. The little critters and their big buggy eyes are too cute to pass up! (Is it just me, or does everything look better with googly eyes?)

Our third card to share today is a simple Christmas card. (Hey, it's never too early to start, is it? I just got an email with 75 Christmas gifts to make today.) I was looking for different challenges to put our work into, and found some new ones. The links are below.

A Frosted Wonderland

Happy Wednesday! I hope everyone is having a great week so far. I know we are excited for our trip home this weekend, and that's definitely pushing us through this week. Today's project is a cute little layout, perfect for those baking memories.

I don't know about when you bake, but throw some powdered sugar and flour in a mixer, and WOOSH! It goes everywhere, and looks like it snowed. What better title than "Working in a Frosted Wonderland" for a gingerbread decorating layout?!

Cupcake Saturday!

*Ok, so, this cupcake was accidentally posted early. We're kind of bummed about it, but here is this week's Cupcake Saturday. We'll have a new one next week, promise!*

We hope everyone is having a nice and relaxing start to their weekend. We have one more day of Christmas in July, and since today is Saturday, today's post is a cupcake! In keeping with the movie theme for this week, today's cupcake is comes straight from the North Pole, on the Polar Express. If you have never seen it, well, you're missing out!! Anyway, after a song and dance, the waiters on the train serve the children a cup of hot chocolate. While all of the other kids are drinking and enjoying their cup, Hero Boy decides to give his to Lonely Boy. 

Our cupcakes are peppermint hot chocolate.

They are a chocolate base, with chocolate peppermint candies inside. Fortunately (maybe??) the grocery store sells the peppermint mocha creamer, so we used some of that in our batter, as well. They are topped with whipped cream, sprinkled with chocolate shavings, and topped with a candy. These just remind us of the holidays!

Kid-Friendly Friday!

Happy Friday, everyone! It's time for another Christmas movie inspired project for Christmas in July. I know there are a TON of kids' Christmas projects, but this is one of the cutest ones I've seen. Today's movie is Dr. Seuss's How the Grinch Stole Christmas. I love this original cartoon version of this movie. We will be making Grinch ornaments. I think every house has a little (or big) Grinch come holiday time... which is fine, and means every house should have one of these! And we're doing some recycling while we're at it.

Materials:
Burnt out light bulb
Green paint
Red paint
White paint
Paint brush
Markers
String
Scissors

(I used Elmer's Painters Markers for mine, but any acrylic paint will work. Also, Deco-Art has really cool snow-texture paint, which would be great for the trim of his hat. That was left behind in the move, sadly...)


Step One:
Paint your lightbulb green. Let dry.

Step Two:
Paint the connecting part red. This will be the Grinch's hat. Let dry.

Step Three:
Add the brim of the hat with white paint, Also paint the very top of the bulb white.

Step Four:
Here comes the hardest part, drawing in his face. I am not an artist, but I tried my best to copy this picture onto the bulb. I think it came out pretty good. Make sure you hold the bulb upside down, otherwise his hat will become his shirt! Use your paint to add details, like his eyes.

Step Five:
Since we don't have a Christmas tree to hang him up yet, I didn't add a hanger But you can just tie string around the hat brim to hang your Grinch up!

Rudolph, With Your Nose So Bright...

Good morning, and thanks for stopping by! We hope everyone is having a wonderful week and I'm sure, looking forward to the weekend. Today's project is dedicated to a true Christmas classic. I'm sure you can guess which movie we're showcasing today... For today, we decided to make a little hostess gift set:

We were going to include some of the other characters from the movie, like the Abominable Snowman, Same, the snowman (narrator), and Hermy the elf, but decided to focus on the reindeer. We've included three things in our set. The first is a bottle of wine. OK, more the tag, but who doesn't love getting some wine?! Our tag features Rudolph, of course, along with his gal-pal, Clarice. It's not the holidays without some sparkle! 

The next thing we included were some gift tags. There are nine all together, one for each reindeer. It's always handy to have a few extra ones hanging around. Or they could be used as drink markers...

And when the last guest leaves, we included some home-made body vanilla-brown sugar body scrub. This is such a good idea for a gift. Not only does it smell really good, but it leaves your skin silky smooth and, unlike soaps, you don't have to worry about it getting in your mouth (it's made from things found in your kitchen).

 

 As we were making this set, it got us wondering about a few things. First, has anyone else ever wondered if any of the reindeer ever suffered a identity crisis? Like Prancer and Vixen?? Also, apparently according to the TV-movie, Donner is Rudolph's dad?? Who knew??
It might be too early for Rudolph to guide Santa's sleigh, but hopefully this gift set can lead you to some gift ideas for the upcoming holiday season!

What Kind of a Tree is That?

Happy August! I can't believe it's already August...that's crazy! In theory, we should be done with our "Christmas in July" week, but since we started late, we'll finish it out in August. Who says Christmas can't be celebrated all year?!
So, yesterday I said we were doing a project based off of one of our favorite movies. Unfortunately, that project didn't pan out, so today's is based on an all-time classic. Can you guess what movie it is, based on the title? It's A Charlie Brown Christmas!

When Charlie Brown becomes concerned about how materialistic Christmas has gotten, Lucy suggests he should be the director of their pageant. When Charlie and Linus go find a tree for the show, they come back with the "Charlie Browniest" tree of all. Everyone involved in the show complains about it, because it "doesn't seem to fit the modern spirit". Like the good friend he is, Linus shows Charlie, and everyone else, the real meaning of Christmas, and tells him, "I never thought it was such a bad little tree. It's not bad at all, really. Maybe it just needs a little love."

And of course, Charlie Brown's best friend, Snoopy, makes an appearance! The inside of the card reads, "Merry Christmas, one and all!"

"This is SO Tinsel!"

Welcome to another Tuesday. I don't know about everyone else, but I spent the day thinking it was already Wednesday. That would have been a bummer...Anyway, going along with our 'Christmas in July' theme, here is today's project.

Today's movie is the Disney made-for-tv movie Prep & Landing. The movie follows Wayne and Lanny, members of an elite elf group. As members of this group, they work together to prepare rooftops and chimneys for Santa to land. Our project is based off of one of the promotional posters for the movie, where they are getting to work.
The project is actually a treat box/gift holder. There are three sections to it. The two parts on the side, where the garland is hanging from, have lids, which would be perfect for holding something small, like little candies. There is a bigger box, without a top,which could be used to hold some more treats, or cards.

"What's Your Favorite Color?"

Hi there! Today's project is based off another of our favorite Christmas movies.  I love the Buddy-isms in Elf, like, "I just like to smile. Smiling's my favorite." (And who doesn't love Zooey Deschanel?!)
So in honor of Buddy, we made treat holders to look like his shoes. (Unfortunately, we didn't have any candy, candy canes, or candy corns hanging around... and syrup would make a really big mess.)

He wears yellow tights with a green tunic, so we added green and yellow on top of his black boots, complete with curly toe!

Remember, the best way to spread Christmas cheer is singing loud for all to hear.

"I Feel It In My Fingers..."

It feels like forever since we've posted, although it's only been a week. We were fortunate enough to spend the last few weeks at home, seeing our family and friends. We were able to attend the wonderful wedding of our friends, meet some new ones, and cross a few more states off our list of places we've been (we weren't missing much...)
Now that we're back, this week's theme is a lot of fun, although a little late. We had planned on using this theme for last week's posts, but it didn't work out right. BUT...it's still July, so it technically works! Our theme this week is 'Christmas in July'! We decided that we wanted to base these projects off of our favorite holiday movies.

So, today's post is a scrapbook layout based on the movie Love, Actually. This is one of my favorite Christmas movies. I don't know if it's so much the Christmas part, or the love stories. It's probably the stories behind it. Well, either way, I really like this one.

So today's project is titled, "Christmas Is All Around" from the song that Billy Mack sings in it. I can't help but sing along when it comes on.

We designed the page to look like the little red Santa dresses the girls in the video wear, and that's where the little girl in the corner comes in. We also made the photo mats to look like wrapped gifts, like the cover of the movie. Finally, we have the lyrics of the song along the bottom. This was definitely a fun layout to put together.
