Everything's Just Beachy!

I just want to start by channeling the camel on the Geico commercial- It's Hump Day!
Now that that's out of the way, here's today's project. It's a beach theme layout with the title "Just Beachy."

There are three mats for 4x6 pictures, perfect for showing off those beach pictures. I used some shiny papers for the sand and water.

This layout was entered in the BBTB2 Beach Time Challenge here.

And here's today's holiday project. We made some fun Halloween cards to share with you.

The frames were embossed with our new embossing toys. Do I need more excitement in my life if watching the powder heat up is fun? The silhouettes in the middle were also embossed, cut out, and mounted with puffy adhesive to give them more dimension. And all frames need a little bling, so we added some around the outside of them.

A Great Pear! Card

I hope everyone is having a terrific Tuesday so far! We have two fun projects to share with you today. The first one is a quick card I made for the FCCB Fruit Salad Challenge here.
This is a perfect little card for any couple. I love the color combination, but I don't know if a guy would necessarily like it :) I used the Serenade cartridge for the very pretty pears, and a fun flowery embossing folder for the back.

The second project is our holiday-themed project for the day. After yesterday's Christmas card, we figured that as a way to get everything done in time for the holidays, we would do one project a day, more or less. So today's holiday post is a glittery wonderland. It's "The Santa Express, {No. 25}

There is a lot of glitter going on in this layout. I had planned some more on the trees, but thought this might be good enough. Here's the train, covered in glittery snow. And a close-up of the passenger card.
Here's the title and a close-up of the caboose. I love how the wheels came out on this.

4th of July Layout

So I've decided that the best way to keep on top of scrapping every day moments and celebrations is to do them right away. Go figure, right? Says the girl who hasn't finished her's from several summers ago... Maybe now I'll actually do it. Maybe...
Here's a 4th of July layout to share today. I found the sketch over on SOUS (and entered it into their challenge here.) It was perfect to show off our 4th picnic.
We've had this paper floating around for a while and I couldn't figure out anything to use it for. Even though the colors are your "normal" red, white and blue, it is definitely patriotic, and therefore perfect for this. You can see it better in the picture below, but there is a really fun starbust-type design in the corner. I didn't want to cover it with the elements from the page, so I tried my hand at cutting around the design to put it on top of the elements. It came out better than I thought it would! Not perfect, since the blade is a little dull, but definitely got the job done.
Now that the layout is done, I just need to add photos. So much for finishing a layout on time.

It is also linked up to the SOUS Die Cut Flourish Challenge here.

Our 500th Post!

I have some good news, and some bad news. First, the good. Today marks our 500th post! Pretty exciting! Hopefully though, that number will go up considerably since we will be posting on a more regular basis. Maybe... Bad news, we don't have a cupcake to share for Cupcake Saturday today. Boo. We got home yesterday after four long days on the road, and didn't quite feel like baking today. Funny how traffic ALWAYS gets backed up so close to the end of a trip. As soon as we hit Connecticut two weeks ago, BAM! As soon as we hit Tacoma yesterday, DOUBLE BAM! Oh well. We made it back safe and sound, with the only two blemishes being really strong thunderstorms camping in Ohio, and Dawn dumbly locking her keys in the car in Montana. Oops.
Anyway, along the way, we realized that we haven't finished our scrapbooks from our cross country trip two summers ago. I think we've only made it to the Midwest on those. So I figured I'd work on one today. While catching up on all those other awesome blogs out there, the BBTB2 challenge was Disney! I suppose I could've scrapped our trip to Disney World, but somehow that didn't come to mind until just now... I wanted to make one using the Bambi cuts on the Disney Classics cartridge.

I love the cut with Bambi looking at his tail and thought that it would be perfect to help show off our pictures from Hurricane Ridge in Olympic National Park. The deer were so used to people being around that they came within a few feet of us. The ones at home get spooked if you're within yards of them. It was pretty neat being that close to them. (You can see the feet of snow behind him in the middle of July!)

The title was cut in the Pooh font, and of course Bambi needed some friends, so I added Thumper and some fun 3-D butterflies flitting around the page.

This project is linked up with the BBTB2 "We Love Disney" challenge here and the Fantabulous Cricut "Cute as a Bug" challenge here.

Bamboozled!

Good Thursday evening! We hope everyone has had a wonderful week so far. Tomorrow is finally Friday, and it happens to be a half-day for most of the schools around here. ALthough we can't complain because it has been a short week.
Anyway, the idea for today's project came to mind yesterday, and it was completed today. Some of our favorite projects use fun puns, and there are plenty of them come Valentine's Day. One of the puns we found was the basis of today's layout:

How cute is that saying- "bamboozled by love"?! This is a simple 12x12 layout we created, and it includes two photo mats- one 4x6" and one 4x4". And our favorite part of the layout? The two little panda bears:
So the color choices were a little hard to work with when it came to the bears beause we wanted to work with the colors in the fun photo mats and not add new ones. We decided to go with a light pink 'boy' and a darker pink 'girl', and the little bows add a nice touch to each one. We added some little gems to the heart to accent it a bit.
This picture shows the little bamboo border we added to the larger photo mat. You can't have a panda-themed page without including some bamboo- and we almost forgot to include it! And the little strips on the top and bottom were cut out with a new toy we got last weekend. It is a paper cutter that cuts fun borders. This one is like a torn edge.
How cute is this layout?! Now we just need to find someone to use it for...It doesn't help that we finished putting this together and writing the post for it while watching tonight's Glee. Those darn high school crushes. Anyway, thanks for stopping by!

Counting Down...

Good afternoon! We hope everyone is having a super last-day-of-2012. It's kind of hard to believe so much has happened this year. And the year ends with a newly fallen snow here.
Anyway, in honor of New Year's Eve, and what everyone does is count down to the New Year. Our layout is title just that:
Like yesterday's project, we were planning on starting with a simple monochromatic scheme, using black, with some blue. It turned out that we had some "champagne"-colored shimmery paper, which was a perfect touch for a New Year's layout. And, of course, we added some flourish:
And it's a little hard to tell, but the white photo mats are cut from recycled paper, so it kind of looks like confetti.
Thanks for stopping by. We hope everyone has a fun, fantastic, and safe New Year's Eve!

Just Believe!

Good morning! We hope everyone had a great weekend. We spent yesterday up in Bellevue, which is up near Seattle. We went for some paper and came back with more than we bargained for. Funny how that tends to happen. Unfortunately we didn't get any holiday shopping done, so sorry guys- nothing for you this year!
Continuing with this week's theme, we have a layout that would be perfect for a holiday train ride. Or a 'Polar Express' party, of course!
This layout features the magical train that's headed to the North Pole. And the only way to get on is to have your ticket:
The word "believe" was designed to look like it was hole-punched. In the movie, the Conductor is mighty talented when it comes to punching the kids' tickets. We also added some bells to the layout, which happens to be more than just the first present of Christmas (and it doesn't go to the boy known as Know-It-All).
Thanks for stopping by! Come back tomorrow for a quick and fun home decor project!

Santa's Little Elves

Happy Black Friday, everyone! We hope everyone had a great holiday with family and friends. We're sure everyone is out shopping now ;) We were fortunate enough to be able to go home for the week (hence the sporadic posting). It was great seeing our family, along with our friend, and some of our track kids from last year. Today was spent traveling home. Our parents dropped us off at the airport at 3:30 in the morning- super early! We were able to see sunrise over New York City, which was pretty amazing. Our layover in Newark was like 2.5 hours (silly, because that's how long it would have taken to drive there...). There wasn't really much to see until we crossed the Rocky Mountains- much better than driving through them! Once we crossed them, it got cloudy and started to rain- big surprise! We then drove up to Seattle, which was exciting, because they're getting ready for the holidays, too. They have their trees lit and decorations up. After 17+ hours of traveling, it is so nice to come home to a clean apartment and an empty one downstairs.
We do have a post for today, though. It is a quick little scrapbook layout we made with this week's elf theme.
This layout is titled "Santa's Helpers". It has two little elves on it, who are hanging up the lights, (which we were supposed to do this week...oops!) There are two 4"x6" photo mats, with cute little gumdrops on the paper. This layout would be perfect for little ones who help with the decorating!
Thank you for stopping by! Have a great day.

A Frosted Wonderland

Happy Wednesday! I hope everyone is having a great week so far. I know we are excited for our trip home this weekend, and that's definitely pushing us through this week. Today's project is a cute little layout, perfect for those baking memories.

I don't know about when you bake, but throw some powdered sugar and flour in a mixer, and WOOSH! It goes everywhere, and looks like it snowed. What better title than "Working in a Frosted Wonderland" for a gingerbread decorating layout?!

Thanksgiving Traditions

Happy Wednesday! I don't know about you, but this week is really dragging. Oh well. Today we have another scrapbook layout to share with you. Back in high school, 11 years ago (oh man, getting old!) we started a new family Thanksgiving tradition in running a local 5K. The Commodore Hull 5K isn't your normal "turkey trot," basically because instead of someone dressing up like a turkey, they have the Commodore walking around. It's a great way to start the day, and then you don't feel as bad eating all the good stuff later on! So here's a layout to put some pictures of this year's race.

We don't have any "commodore" shapes to cut out, so the ship will have to do. And since this isn't a "regular" turkey trot, we figured we wouldn't use your "regular" fall-ish colors for the layout. (And I'm pretty sure we have race t-shirts in all of these colors.) We are looking forward to going home in a couple of weeks and continuing this tradition.

Giving Thanks

Good morning! Today we have a scrapbook layout to share with you.We designed it around the sketch challenge from the Stuck On U Sketches here. It's a little bit hard to see in the picture, but the patterned paper on top of the green has some fun sparkle on the fruits.

Happy November!

Good evening, all! I can't believe it's already November! Where has the year gone?! We hope everyone had a fun-filled night last night. All I can say is that we were rather disappointed with our turn-out of trick-or-treaters. Back at home, the only two kids who ever came to our house were our neighbors. Over the years, it went from two to one. So, this year, we figured that there would be a ton of kids coming, especially since we live in a pretty big apartment complex. We bought some bags of candy and were all ready to hand it out. We decided a while back that we were going to have movie night on Halloween, and so we watched "Dark Shadows" (What's better than spending the night watching Johnny Depp? However creepy he might be in it...) At 10:00, when the movie was over, we still had the bowl of candy- no one showed up!! How disappointing!
Anyway, today's project is a quick little layout that we created, in order to scrap all of the fun memories of this year's festivities!
My favorite part of this project is the little ghost and his treat bag. It reminds me of Charlie Brown's Halloween costume, before he cuts all of the holes in the sheet! This layout features room for three 4x6 photos. The pumpkin paper for the photo mats sparkles, which is always a nice touch! Each mat is also bordered by a spider web, which adds a nice touch.
This is a close-up of the bottom of the page. You can see the ghost and the bare tree. The dark purple paper also has a shimmer to it.

Trick or Treat!

Happy Monday! Hope everyone had a great weekend. Today we have a layout to share with you to put all those great Halloween pictures on.
The glitter paper adds a nice touch to the design, and I love the cute little accents up the side. No tricks, just treats for this layout.

Carving Memories

Good morning, everyone. I hope you are all having a great week so far. The weekend feels so close, doesn't it? Anyway, today's project is a layout to show all of those pumpkin carving pictures. After picking out the perfect ones at the patch, you need to carve at least some of them, right? So here's the layout.

There photo mat measures 6.25x12, to fit three 4x6 photos side by side. I don't really like cropping my pictures out to small sizes, so most of the layouts we use hold 4x6 photos. If I do need to crop something (or someone) out, I use photoshop and still make it 4x6. So with those three pictures there, a lot of the paper wouldn't be shown, but that's okay!

Another Layout

Good morning! I hope everyone's week is going fast. Only a few more days until the weekend. We have another project to help get you through. Here's today's layout.

They say that the apple never falls far from the tree. Well, I suppose unless someone climbed up it and threw the apples down, they might fall away from it, but that's another story. Anyway, this is such a fun little fall layout. I think apple-picking pictures with the family would look great on here, or maybe the little ones helping mom and dad with some fall clean-up around the yard.

Bushels of Fun!

I hope everyone had a good weekend. We are continuing our apple-themed week with this fun little layout.

I love apple picking in the fall. Sure, you can go to the store and pick up a bag of apples, but there's nothing like spending the day at a farm, in between the trees, looking for the right ones. And then when you get home, thinking, "What in the world am I going to do with all these apples?!" Apple crisp, apple pies, apple dumplings... ok, anything with apples in it! Then when everything is in the oven, there's just enough time to scrapbook the trip to the orchard, right?

Hey Cupcake!

Happy Monday morning! We hope everyone had a wonderful weekend. Sorry that it took longer to post this. We were doing some heavy-duty cleaning before our parents come tomorrow :D We can't wait to see them, and have some visitors!
Continuing with this week's theme, today's project is a little scrapbook layout we created.
This layout would be perfect for a day of cupcake baking. The colors and pattern remind us of a quaint country kitchen. There are two 4x6" pictures and a small recipe journal card. How cute is that?! Here are two up-close pictures, one of the words and one of the cupcake:
It could also be a cute layout for a little sweetie's birthday or any day, with just a little altering.
Thanks for stopping!

Here Kitty, Kitty!

Good Friday morning! We hope everyone has had a good week and we're sure everyone is looking forward to the weekend.
Today's post is our final family project. We covered parents and grandparents, brothers and sisters. But we can't talk about family without including our pets! Sometimes they're the reason you want to go home. This scrapbook layout is a cat-themed one.
This one will definitely be used for pictures of our kitty, who is truly the Queen of the House (and apparently the only one we have pictures of)! She can get anyone to do whatever she wants and we all know it.
Like the rest of us, she doesn't like getting her picture taken, especially those close-ups!
Thanks for stopping by! Join us tomorrow for another Cupcake Saturday!

Hey Cuz!

Good morning! We hope everyone is having a good week so far. On the bright side, it's already Thursday! Today's project is about cousins. Now, we know there are families out there that have a ton of people, cousins included, in them. Unfortunately, we've never been one of those families. We only have six cousins, and that's on both sides of the family. And to make things "worse", we only have one female cousin. Now, some might think that's a bummer, but with time, our family keeps getting bigger, so I guess it's OK. So, this is the scrapbook layout we created.
It was going to be a gender-neutral page, but  I decided to make it to hold a picture of the three girls in the family. Below is a close-up of the quote we chose, which seems to fit for us. We also included a tree, or at least a part of it, in the background.
I think it's a nice and simple layout. I guess that's about all for today. Thanks for stopping by!

Never Forget

As you know, today marks the 11th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks. For our generation, it was the day that you remember exactly where you were when you heard the news. I was sitting in U.S. History class when one of the other teachers came in and told us. The rest of the day was spent watching the news coverage. I don't think anyone knew what would happen over the next 10 years because of that day. Needless to say, it definitely changed U.S. history forever. We grew up in Fairfield County, Connecticut, where a lot of people commute in and out of the city from. Thankfully, no one we knew personally were there, but friends' families were. And for all those families that were changed from these event, we'll always remember. And also to those men and women-first responders and military- we thank you for your dedication and service.

Ok, time to switch gears. Since this week's theme is family, we have a scrapbook layout to share all those sibling memories with. We were *blessed* to have two older brothers, although that feeling hasn't always been mutual :)

(We really need some pictures. How did they all get left in the move?!)

We were always trying to out-do and one-up the boys. (Well, we still do when given the chance.) Even though we are younger, we never let them out easy, even if it took a double-team on one of them. It sure did take a while, but I'm pretty sure that we finally see eye-to-eye with them. So thanks guys, for helping us be better people!

We added this layout to the Paper Secrets sketch challenge here and the ScrapFit Warm-up here.
We added the card to the Mojo Mondays sketch challenge here and the  BBBT2 challenge here.
