Cupcake Saturday!

Happy Saturday! We hope everyone has had a wonderful weekend so far. It seems as if this weekend will be a good time to be outside, see some color, and enjoy the weather. Hopefully. As long as it's nicer than last weekend, it's a winner! And we'll probably spend it inside...crafting. Oh well. We've been rather busy with orders. We finished two yesterday and have another three to work on now.
We have another cupcake to share with you today. It is an apple crisp cupcake:

We were having a discussion on whether it should be considered a cupcake or a muffin. The jury is still out, but under either title, they're delicious! One of our mom's favorite (and yummiest) things to make during the fall is apple crisp. We decided to make this one in honor of her. It has huge chunks of apples, to really get the flavor. They also help keep the cupcake nice and moist. We decided to top it off with a batch of crumb topping. We were always known to be the ones who would pick the biggest "crumbs" off the pies and crisps, and anything else that you could put it on. This was no exception! (We made a small cake and topped it with a good inch of the crumble, and then proceeded to pick off the top.)
These cupcakes would be perfect for those days when you are looking for a treat, but not something overly sweet. And it has fruit in it, so they have to be good for you, no?!
Thanks so much for stopping by! We hope you all have a great day!

A New (Delicious) Fall Drink

We hope everyone is having a wonderful, working Wednesday! On the bright side, it's downhill after today. Anyway, today's post isn't something we usually do. We're pretty sure the last time we did this was last fall. We are sharing our recipe for a *drum roll* Apple Pie Latte:
This drink is absolutely delish! Just looking at the picture makes me smile. There is a story behind this recipe, though. The other day, I was so excited to go the store and get the pumpkin spice coffee from Dunkin' Donuts. How can you go wrong? And especially when it's on sale?! When I got there, I was disappointed because it wasn't there. But they had this apple pie-flavored coffee. I was kind of weary about getting it, but went for it, mostly because we're deprived of it out here. (Washington's downfall). I also picked up some caramel creamer and whipped cream with the idea of making a latte (yum!)
I hurried (safely) home because I was just so excited! Now, we kind of cheat when it comes to making lattes. We used a gift card to make the most-awesome purchase: a Mr. Coffee latte maker. Unless you have a boat-load of money to spend on the machine, I wouldn't recommend it. Then again, if you're someone who goes out and gets a coffee every day, it might be worth it. We've definitely gotten our money's worth :)
So, here's how to make your own, without any fancy equipment. This recipe makes two drinks (or, just one really large one!)

Apple Pie Spice:
In a small container, mix 1/4 cup cinnamon, 1 tablespoon allspice, and 2 teaspoons both nutmeg and ginger. Mix well and store in an air-tight container.
This is one of those mornings that this drink would be perfect. Needless to say, this drink was absolutely delicious! I was surprised at how "apple-y" this coffee was. There are only a few flavored coffees that have such flavor to them. After we finished the coffee (in like a week...), we had our first (and only) pumpkin spice latte from the "other" place, and it was so disappointing. It tasted like a regular ol' latte. Good thing we can make our own now!!
Thanks so much for stopping by! Have a wonderful day!!

Whoo's Ready for 4th Grade?

Happy Tuesday! We hope everyone had a fantastic long weekend. For most of us there won't be another one until October! On the bright side, that's only a month away :) But then again, we haven't actually started a new school year yet, so there shouldn't be anything to complain about, huh?! Anyway, as promised, we have another back-to-school classroom project. This is an apple tulle wreath we made this weekend:
OK, so it's supposed to be an apple. If we had to do it again, it would probably be made with a circle wreath form. But then again, it goes along with the "teaching is a work of heart" saying. So it works for this. Unfortunately, it had a little accident while we were making it:

The bright side? We realized that the two halves would make cute little candy canes for the upcoming holiday season. And we were able to put our broken heart back together will a little hot glue (which fixes almost everything!)
We decided to make the wreath because the door was in desperate need of some pizzazz. This is a view of the little "nameplate" on the wreath. It's not a great picture of the nameplate, but it's designed to look like a chalkboard (although there aren't many of those left!) Over the years, we've had so many people say our last name incorrect. Because of this, we realized that it's just like an owl's call, and tell the kids, "It's hoo, like an owl". It makes it easier for everyone. It is also the reason why we included the owls on yesterday's project. And, of course, he has little googly eyes, because they make everything better!
Thanks so much for stopping by! Have a wonderful day!

Cupcake Saturday!

Happy Saturday! We are thrilled that you stopped by today, and we think you're in for a treat! OK, well, today's cupcakes are so good! We made Apple Crumb cupcakes for today:
How delicious do these look?! These are a vanilla cupcake with apple chunks baked inside. The apples make them healthy, right?? Here's what makes these cupcakes a-mazing- the crumb topping! Now, I don't know about anyone else, but we have always been the one to pick the crumb topping off of everything. All those pies and danish...We start with the biggest crumbs, and pretend no one notices. And then get all sad when there is no topping left. True story. Alright, back to the topic at hand. These cupcakes are totally delicious and it gives you a good reason to have a cupcake in the morning!
Thanks so much for stopping by today! Join us tomorrow in the pumpkin patch, for a new week of projects!

An Autumn Apple Harvest Party!

Thank goodness it's finally Friday! I hope everyone had a great week and is ready for the weekend with some fun plans. I know that this is much later than we normally post, but we've both been busy working, so it took a little longer than normal to finish today's project. Mostly because there are a few different parts to it. Today's project(s) go along with Tuesday's apple favors.
So, this is a pretty long post. There are quite a few pictures to it, too. We decided that we were going to do a "party pack", which, if you look on Etsy, is usually a whole bunch of printable images, and you put everything together to make a cohesive, matching party. We thought that instead of having to print everything out, it's not so bad if someone else does all of the work. I have never actually seen one of these "parties" in person, but I don't know, I just think this would add more *flair* to a party. If that makes sense.
To begin with, we created some invitations and thank you notes for our party. How cute are these?! They are multi-layered, which adds a nice touch. I love how the thank you note's tree is bare. All the apples were picked and ready to be made into a pie!!
So, the next few pictures aren't great, but I think they get the point across.
So, here's what else we included. We threw together a banner, which reads ""Happy Birthday", and the space is a bushel of apples. I actually love this color combination together, and it totally reminds me of fall and apples, and all that "good stuff"! We also designed some straw tags, bottle wrappers, and cupcake wrappers. We also made some cupcake picks and table tents. Here is they are all based on the same design, with four different apple images:
How cute are these designs?! I must say, one of the best feelings when we're crafting is having an idea and seeing it work out, and loving the final product. That's what happened here with these apples. They're all actually based off of the same apple, just with a few changes here and there, and voila- three different images!
And the last image we'll share with you:
These are the place card holders we created. You need to know where your guests will sit at the party, right? These place card holders will do just the trick. I cut out 15 apple shapes for each one and cut off the stems and leaves from them. Then, I folded them in half and glued them (on the outside of the fold) to each other. The card sits nicely on the apples and they add a cut little touch to the table. They could also be made bigger and used as decorations around the house.
Phew! Now time to start the next packs! We have a whole ton more planned, especially with the holidays coming up! Can't wait to start those! Anyway, thanks so much for looking! Come back tomorrow for another Cupcake Saturday!

Beware...

I know I said earlier that Halloween wasn't going to come on the blog for a couple of weeks, but we do have one project this week that is Halloween-ish. Oh well. Here's today's project.

I saw this saying somewhere, pinterest probably, and thought it would make a great little wall hanging. I love the spider web punch-around-the-page accent and the glittery apples. I just wish that the B's cut out correctly. No matter how many times I tried, the insides didn't cut out. Oh well. The glitter definitely helps to take your eye away from them.

Oh and Happy Birthday to our littlest cousin, who is celebrating his 1st birthday today!

Another Layout

Good morning! I hope everyone's week is going fast. Only a few more days until the weekend. We have another project to help get you through. Here's today's layout.

They say that the apple never falls far from the tree. Well, I suppose unless someone climbed up it and threw the apples down, they might fall away from it, but that's another story. Anyway, this is such a fun little fall layout. I think apple-picking pictures with the family would look great on here, or maybe the little ones helping mom and dad with some fall clean-up around the yard.

Favor Time!

Good morning, everyone! We're back today with another quick apple project for you. Here is our apple favor.

We used the Sweet Tooth Boxes cartridge (yup, that's the ice cream cone) for these favors. These would look great on a table at a fall or harvest-themed party. They surprisingly hold quite a bit, too.

Thanks for stopping by!

Bushels of Fun!

I hope everyone had a good weekend. We are continuing our apple-themed week with this fun little layout.

I love apple picking in the fall. Sure, you can go to the store and pick up a bag of apples, but there's nothing like spending the day at a farm, in between the trees, looking for the right ones. And then when you get home, thinking, "What in the world am I going to do with all these apples?!" Apple crisp, apple pies, apple dumplings... ok, anything with apples in it! Then when everything is in the oven, there's just enough time to scrapbook the trip to the orchard, right?

Thanks for stopping by!

Apple of My Eye

Can you believe it is already the last day of September? I don't know where this month went, but it sure went fast for us. I think it was a busy one between having visitors and work picking up. But that means that we can start getting ready for Halloween, right? We have a couple of weeks before we start our Halloween projects on here, but in the meantime, we have a week of apple-themed projects for you. Who doesn't love going out to the orchard and picking some (or a lot) of crunchy, juicy apples this time of the year? And being in Washington, I think it's kind of necessary, right?! Here's today's project.

I love the Create-a-Critter cartridge. There are so many stinkin' cute images on it. This card would definitely brighten up someone's day!
