Happy Meow-ther's Day!

Good morning! We hope everyone had a wonderful weekend celebrating all the amazing moms out there. Unfortunately we weren't able to spend it with our Mom, but we did talk on the phone for awhile, which made us miss each other even more. Oh well, it was totally worth it!
Today's project is another quick Mother's Day card from the littlest, cutest, laziest kiddo.
I saw this sleeping kitty cut and knew I had to use it on a project. It reminded me our our little kitty, who spends all of her time sunbathing on the back of the couch. The inside of the card reads, "Mom, I ain't kitten, you're the best!" and it's sealed with a kiss (or a paw print!)
Thanks for stopping by! Have a wonderful day!

Happy Mother's Day!

Happy Sunday! We hope everyone has had a wonderful weekend, celebrating all of the amazing moms in their lives. I know everyone says they have the best moms, but we really do! She always goes above and beyond for all of us. We were fortunate enough to be able to spend the last three weeks with her (and our dad), which was awesome. We were able to celebrate with her before they let yesterday morning, which was great.
Since Mom couldn't really bring much back home with her, we made a nice little breakfast. Here is the card we made her:
From first look, it most definitely doesn't look like a 'typical' Mother's Day card. Once it's opened, it makes more sense
We wanted to make it a somewhat snarky card, because Mom always tells us we're too snarky. (That, and we really wanted to use something from a new paper stack we got, but nothing fit for Mother's Day) So, we saw something with this saying, and thought it was perfect for her. I'm sure in the last 30+ years, there were tons of times she wanted to sell one, or all, of us to the circus, or zoo, or feed us to the sharks.
So, Happy Mother's Day to all the lovely mothers out there, especially ours!

Happy Mother's Day!

Happy Mother's Day to all you mom's out there! And an especially Happy Mother's Day to our mom back home. This is (sadly) her first mother's day without any of her kids around in 32 years.
Here's what we made for her special day. There are a handful of pictures of this project. It was our first attempt at an explosion box (but now not our last! Think of the possibilities...) I think for our first attempt it came out pretty well. We felt like this was a good project for her. It's not a card, so she can leave it out for as long as she wants (even though it does say "Happy Mother's Day", you can't tell if it's closed.) And we added a little something in it, so she can treat herself to something nice!
If you've never seen a box like this, it looks like an ordinary box. The top here is probably my favorite part of the project.

...and then (in this case,) you tug on the ribbon and take the top off...and:
It opens up to reveal the inside! This box has  2 1/2 layers on the inside. The pictures only show the "crafty" areas. The layer on the bottom is here we each wrote our own little note to mom. No one needs to read that...;) The other two blocks were cut with Celebrate with Flourish)
The bear was probably the hardest part of it. We weren't sure that he would stand up on his own, but he showed us wrong. He's made from only ovals and circles- who knew?? (George & Basic Shapes) He could use some work, though. He's not nearly chubby enough. Luckily, you can't tell from the front!
We were going to go with the traditional flower route, but decided that with our past experiences with flower deliveries, that wasn't such a good idea. (one time they only gave us half of the flowers we were supposed to get, and the other time, the vase was broken in a hundred pieces when it got to the door.) So we made our own flowers for her! Since our best medium is paper, we made her some paper flowers on top of the box! Now her flowers won't die like they usually do. These are handmade flowers, with inked edges. The two light pink flowers actually started yellow, but e inked them and they look amazing (if I might say!!) And, as if she didn't know it was for her, there's a tag with Mom's name on it, in the shape of a heart, what else?!
That's all for today's project. I did enter it into some blog "challenges", because I'm just really proud of it!!

Mother's Day Card

Here's a really quick card we made the other day. We had originally planned on using it as a Mother's Day card for mom, but being the crafty people we are, we found another project to make her. So here's the extra that we have! The colors are so spring and perfect for mom's special day. And what mom doesn't like some flowers? At least these won't die, like the others we have gotten her in the past! Happy Early Mother's Day to all those mothers out there!

Another Scrapbook Page

Happy Thursday! I hope everyone is having a fantastic week! I know we are :) It has been sunny all week, (and into next week too!) It's starting to feel and smell like spring, and then this weekend it's supposed to reach 80 degrees! It's all just so exciting! Anyway, this weekend also happens to be Mother's Day. A day to celebrate the moms in our lives. Today's post is a 2-page scrapbook layout we made to celebrate the day. (Don't worry Mom, it's not your gift. That should be coming on Friday or Saturday. I don't want to give anything away.) It's a very spring-y layout, with the bright pinks and pale green. The two flowers are handmade. I wish I had sparkles to add to them, but the inked edges look nice, too. There is a little journaling pocket, as well.

This is a picture of a flower, zoomed in. The corner flourishes are my favorite part of the layout!
That's all for today! Hope everyone has an enjoyable day!!

Happy Mother's Day!

Just wanted to say Happy Mother's Day to the best mom in the world!

The outside reads, "Make Gnome Mistake..."
The inside reads, "You're the Best!"

This was our attempt at making a watering can cake to go with the gnome/garden theme. The spout was just a little too heavy, so we had to keep the can there. Hopefully next time, we'll get it right without having to keep anything up with cans!

Finally, our gift basket of gnome and garden things!
