It's Saturday! I do love the weekends. And it's supposed to clear up and warm up out here this weekend. It hasn't gotten out of the 50s recently. We're definitely ready for summer. We've had a couple of tastes of it last month, but then it was back to sweatshirts. Oh well.
So to start off the weekend, we have another Cupcake Saturday to share with you. This week's flavor is apple cheesecake.
This was actually our second attempt to get the combination of flavors right. We tried it out a few months ago, and it wasn't quite right. They were either too apple-y or too cheesecake-y. This time, however, they were perfect. An equal combination of both flavors. The cupcake is an apple spice cupcake with chunks of apple, covered in a caramel apple cream cheese frosting, topped with some crushed graham cracker crumbs. It's kind of like an upside down cheesecake- crackers on top, cheesecake, then the apples. But it doesn't really matter how it's put together; they are still delicious! Oh, and can't forget a little bit of caramel drizzle on top!
Thanks for stopping by. Enjoy your weekend!
Today's Party Trivia:
- In 1650, The Harvard Corporation, the more powerful of the two administrative boards of Harvard, was established. It was the first legal corporation in the Americas. (Student loans, anyone?)
- In 1924, George Mallory and Andrew Irvine disappeared on the second attempt to climb Mount Everest, after possibly being successful in reaching the top.
- In 1934, Donald Duck made his big screen debut in The Wise Little Hen.
- In 1973, Secretariat won the Triple Crown. (It's too bad that I'll Have Another as scratched out of today's Belmont Stakes, ending his career and chances of being a Triple Crown winner as well.)
