Wedding Wishes!

Good morning! I'm so sorry it's been a while since I posted. There have been some computer issues here, which was a total bummer. I hope everyone had a fantastic week! Maybe with an extra day off for the holiday observance?! I'm sure there are some big plans for the weekend, between picnics and fireworks, and all that fun stuff! We were supposed to head to Montana this week for a wedding, but unfortunately work got in the way. I did make a card, though, because it's what I do!
This is the outside of the card. I wanted to make it elegant, and it came out better than I first thought. After some trial and error, I got the bottom later to work for me. I don't have an embossing plate with the diamond design, so I had to create my own with my paper scorer. The second embossed layer was definitely not done by hand. I chose these colors based off of some shower decorations I made for her. The Bride had a "Breakfast at Tiffany's"- themed shower in May and I was tasked to work on the invitations, banners, and a scrapbook for her. Unfortunately, I don't think I took too many "good" pictures of these before I sent them off. I added the pearls to go along with the pearls worn in the movie (and they add a girly touch!) I kept the inside of the card relatively simple:
I wasn't sure what to write in the card, seeing as I don't know the couple very well (she's the Boy's cousin, and that I never know what to write in cards. I get them all made and then think "Now what??"), I looked online for some ideas. Luckily this one took up enough room so it didn't leave a whole lot of room for additional writing without looking silly. I also made a matching envelope and did some fun, fancy typography on the front. I thought I had gotten a picture of it, but I guess not. Hopefully the couple likes it!
Thanks for stopping by! Have a fantastic and safe weekend!

One More Wedding Card

Where did the weekend go?! We hope everyone is having a great day. As we wrote yesterday, our cousin got married this weekend. We've been sharing the few cards we made for them. This is the card we madefor the couple:
This one didn't come out quite like planned, but it still looks pretty nice (we think!) We dry-embossed the background and included some more rhinestones (why not?!) The hardest part, or most tedious, was sitting there, punching out all the super tiny parts to the 'doily'. Each 'flower' has at least 6 teeny tiny holes that needed to be punched, and there were two colors. Once that was done, it was a piece of cake, pun intended :)
We can't wait to hear all the stories we missed! I'm sure we'll be getting a phone call later in the day catching us up on everything!
That's it for the wedding cards. Now it's time to keep working on all those holiday cards! Thanks so much for stopping by! Have a wonderful day!!

For a Special Couple

Happy Saturday! We hope everyone is having a great weekend so far. It looks as if today is going to be another wet day, but we'll see. It was supposed to rain all week, but the sun decided to come out most days. Hopefully it will today, for a little, at least. We are aware that today is, in fact Saturday, but today's post isn't a cupcake. Sorry! Back in Connecticut, our cousin is getting married today!
This is the card we sent to the happy couple. We went back to the blue and silver theme for the last two cards. We added a few special embellishments to this card, including some ribbon and tulle. We also embossed the flower petals (which looks cuter in person).
We wish we could be there to celebrate with them. Here's to wishing them many years of happiness together!!
Thanks for stopping by! Have a great weekend!!

A Bridal Shower Card

Happy Sunday! We hope everyone is having a superb Sunday. Today's project is another wedding/engagement/shower we made for our cousin. Our mom asked us to make a card for the wedding shower.
Unlike the other cards we made for the wedding, we made this one pink. (We're still not quite sure what color scheme they're going with.) It is similar to another shower card we made (not sure if that one ever got posted. We can't seem to find it). To jazz it up a bit, we added some rhinestones around the border. The inside was left blank, so our mom could write her own little note.
Thanks so much for stopping by!

An Engagement Card

Happy Friday! We hope everyone had a wonderful work week. Today's project is a card we made for our cousin. So, it's more for his fiance- we don't know too many guys truly appreciate all the hard work put into a card :) Anyway, the two are getting married in a few days, so this is a card we made for them to congratulate them on their engagement. (Apparently our family enjoys quick engagements, or at least surprise ones...)
We didn't want to make the card too fancy, because they aren't the super-fancy type. The invitation had a blue and silver color-scheme, so we just went with it for the card. The picture isn't very good, but the diamond ring does have some sparkle to it and does pop out.
We've made a few other cards for the upcoming wedding. Over the next few days, we will share them. And, unfortunately, the pictures aren't nearly as good as we would like. Guess that's what happens when you take them with your phone...
Thanks for stopping by! Have a great day and join us tomorrow for another Cupcake Saturday!

It's Friday!

Happy Friday! I hope everyone had a fantastic week and has some fun plans! We have some family coming out to visit this weekend, on their Western vacation, so we're looking forward to them coming. And we also have other news to share. We're getting an addition to our family, now that our brother is engaged to his girlfriend! So to celebrate, we made today's card for the happy couple.
The inside says, "Once in a while, right in the middle of an ordinary life, love gives us a fairytale." It's perfect for the two of them! My favorite part is definitely the "diamond" ring.

Another Wedding Invitation

Happy Friday! We hope everyone had a wonderful week. Or tried to, at least. It's kind of tough to enjoy yourself, or do anything, really, when it's so hot. So we can't think of a better way to spend a gorgeous day, with a high of 85 and lots of sun, than inside at a scrapbook expo, right?! OK, there are other ways to spend it, but not too many chances to go someplace and see all the new, fun toys that you really want but will have to restrain yourself from getting.

Anyway, we have been looking to expand our online shop a bit, including our invitations. We've done a few wedding invitations for customers (and are actually about to start another!), and wanted to add some new types to offer.  Today's project is a new sample we've designed.
This invitation isn't quite as intricate as our others, but definitely looks like a million bucks! We have included some elegant embossing, which is always a nice touch. It is also slightly larger than our others, which allows for greater possibilities.

So, friends from (apparently) everywhere but the great Northwest, try to stay cool. We're thinking of you!
Now, to go find our shopping bags...

Not a Cupcake...

I know it's Saturday, but we unfortunately do not have a Cupcake Saturday to share with you today. We have been very busy around here, making wedding invitations for a customer. She chose a Tiffany blue and silver combination, which I love and think it will look awesome for her big day. And it sure will be big, since we have to make well over 100 invitations!

I hope she loves them too!

Congratulations!

So today's the big day! Our good friends are getting married today! We are very excited for them and their future together. We wanted to share the wedding gift we made for this great couple.

When they got engaged, we made a card with Cinderella and Prince Charming that you can see here. Now that they are getting married, we wanted to include the two on their wedding card. The wedding is on the water, so it needed some sand and a watercolor sunset.

To go with the card, we made a quilt, using their wedding colors. I'm really proud of how this came out. I love the ribbon around the border. I hope they enjoy it (and each other :) ) for many years to come.

Kid-Friendly Friday!

Today's kid-friendly Friday project is really simple. And it's not just for kids! These paper lanterns would look great as a centerpiece at a wedding, or lined up on a mantle, or really anywhere. And boy, are they simple to make. You probably already have what you need lying around the house.

Materials:
Paper (any thickness will work)
Pencil
Ruler
Scissors
Glue or tape
Paper trimmer, optional

Step One:
Cut your paper to desired size. (I cut a 12x12 down to 12x8.) Hot dog fold your paper in half. You should have a long rectangle.
Step Two:
Draw a line about 3/4 of an inch on the open edge. Make sure it is a really light line, because it may show on the outside of the finished lantern.

Step Three:
Cutting from the folded side to the pencil line, make fringe, about 1/2 inch apart.

Step Four:
Take the two short sides and fold them towards each other. Glue or tape the ends together on the top and bottom. Also glue or tape in the middle by the fold to make your lantern sturdier.

Step Five:
One way to get rid of the pencil line is to use a complimentary paper and make a band to go around it. The sizes of the papers for the lanterns below are: green- 12x8, short white- 4x11, medium white-4.5x11. I've also made these with large 19x12 construction paper, so really any size works. The one thing to remember is to not cut past the pencil line.

Today's Party Trivia:
- In 1923, the Hollyood sign as officially dedicated. At first, it read Hollywoodland, but when it was renovated in 1949, they removed the 'land' part. (Who would guess it would be so darn hard to find?? If only other cities around didn't put up random letters...)
- In 1977, New York City suffered a 24-hour blackout that led to major looting and fires
- Today is "Embrace Your Geekiness Day"!!

Cupcake Saturday! (on Thursday)

So, this is a little early, but any day is really a great day for cupcakes! We wanted to keep Saturday open for a very special post! Going along with this week's theme, we have little wedding cupcakes to share. There are a ton of different variations of these, so this is our interpretation. We tried to base ours off of the little favors we made earlier this week, but the coloring isn't quite the same, as you can tell. Her coloring made her look more like a cartoon character rather than a person...
They are just plan little vanilla cupcakes. These particular ones don't have any frosting on them, which made it easier for us to decorate. Aren't these adorable?! They would be easily customizable to your own wedding colors, too. Thanks for stopping by! Join us tomorrow for another Kid-Friendly Friday, which showcases a super-easy way to fancy any table up!

Today's Party Trivia:
- July 12th is another slow news day...
- The Rolling Stones held their last concert in London in 1962.
- Today is National Pecan Pie Day.

Some Wedding Favors

Today's project is a set of wedding favors. I have to say, I can't wait to start planning my wedding, whenever that happens. With no significant other at this time, I guess I will have to continue resorting to making mock-up invitations and favors... Oh well. That's fun, too.

How cute are these bags?! I love how they are hearts disguised as the bride and groom! I love the little details, like the necklace and buttons. And the groom's little pocket square and buttons!

Wedding Shower Gift

We are really excited to share today's project with you. We made this towel cake for our really good friend who is getting married this weekend.

It was a great shower gift. It is literally a shower gift. We took various sizes of towels and stuck body wash, lotion, and spray in the folds. We chose lilies in honor of her puppy, whose name is Lily. We made the paper lilies with scraps from her invitations.

You are Invited...

Today we have some wedding invitations that we put together really quickly. We've been lucky enough to make invitations for a couple of our friends' weddings, and have found that we really enjoy it. There's nothing like helping someone make a fantastic first impression about their wedding. And really, for us, one of the nicest things about making a large number of cards at once is the assembly line process. After figuring out one, the rest are exactly the same. It also helps that there are two of us working on them at the same time to cut production in half.

Wedding Week!

It’s another week, which means we need another theme to work on. Since we will be celebrating the marriage of one of our closest friends this weekend, what better theme than wedding? We are really excited to help the bride put together some of the last minute things and to get the party started!!
We’re starting off the week with some engagement cards. We have two that were really easy to put together, but special enough to give the happy couple. Both cards have a touch of embossing to give them that fancy look.

The red jewels really pop, and I love how the flamingos make a heart with their beaks!

A Wedding Invitation

Today's post is a project we did a while ago. One of our really close friends is getting married this summer and today is her wedding shower. Seeing as we are awful bridesmaids and moved on her, we can't attend. Today's project was supposed to be our gift to her, but since we haven't confirmed her receipt of said gift, I don't want to give anything away. However, we were fortunate enough to be asked to design wedding invitations for her. This is what we came up with.

I think they came out great! I hope her guests think so, too! We'll post the pictures of the shower gift once she gets it. Have a wonderful Sunday!
