You're Invited to A Holiday Soiree!

Good morning! We hope everyone had a nice, relaxing weekend. Today’s post is going to be considerably shorter than yesterdays. After a little lull, we spent some time over few days working on some new projects for our shop, including these invitations:
We wanted to get a “head start” on the holidays. Funny story- we’ve had “Start Christmas so it’s done on time” on our to-do list since August (no lie) and we finally did so. (Maybe we’ll get our July birthday gift done now… ) We made invitations for a few themes, including the ever-popular “Ugly Sweater” party, a “Nutcracker Sweet” party, and a penguin-themed invitation.  Hopefully we’ll be able to add a few new invitations and matching items over the next few days. Or the next few weeks. The way we see it, you can’t have a party without invitations, so they're the best place to start!
Thanks so much for stopping by! Have a fantastic day!

An Elmo Birthday!

Good morning! We hope everyone is having a fantastic week so far. At least it's already Thursday! And a day closer to the weekend. We have been uber busy around here, with the start of the school looming and everyone having their kid's birthdays. We actually had little to do yesterday, so we took a little break. However, we wanted to share some of our newest projects with you. The first is some decor for an Elmo-themed party for twin 1-year olds (how cute?!) Unfortunately, some of the pictures have quite an orange tint to them...or at least the wall does...
The first project is a super cute and colorful 'Happy Birthday' banner:
The banner features Elmo holding the number 1and two presents on the end:
Of course we used pop-dots on the letters and images, and the polka dots add another cute touch!
The next item we made was a set of cake toppers. The first piece is Elmo, along with two Sesame Street-inspired name signs:
These three toppers are double-sided and are on 8" sticks. We added some ribbon to the name signs. The last thing we made were some goody bags for the kiddos:
These little cuties feature an excited Elmo, because who wouldn't be happy at a party?!
Thanks for stopping by. We'll have some more new projects to share with you this week.

A (Very Late) Birthday Gift

Good morning! We hope everyone is having a wonderful weekend so far. We have finally caught up, or are at least catching up, with the list of projects we've needed to complete. Here is one that is quite a bit late, but I'm sure it'll be OK!
Last month was our niece's birthday and we knew exactly what we wanted to make her.  After looking around at the craft stores and not being able to find what we were looking for, we had to order it on-line. (I'll admit, we did run a bit late piecing it all together, but...) After ordering it, it finally arrived, only to come the day before we left for vacation and we didn't have enough time to get it out. However, we're pretty sure it was worth the wait:
The completed project is a personalized glass block light. The pictures aren't the best, but the first is when it's unplugged and the second is it on. (My back-lighting skills are terrible) We decided to go with purple, teal, and lime green (because who doesn't like that color combination?!) The hardest part of this gift was (safely) sticking all of the lights in the block and cutting a whole in the bottom (or maybe cracking it) to keep the lights in. The craftiest part of this project (the bow) was a little troublesome, but it works and it made me wonder where to add more of the super easy loopy bows. I was thinking Christmas...  *<|:0)
Now we just have to get it out in the mail. At least she'll have an extended birthday, and she'll have it before her next birthday!
Thanks so much for stopping by! Have a wonderful day!

Happy Birthday, Mom & Dad!

Good evening! We hope everyone is having a wonderful weekend. We have been super busy around here, between school and orders, and finally everything is getting back on schedule. With all that we've had to do over the last few weeks, we did find some time to work on a few projects. Today's projects are some cards we made for our wonderful parents who are celebrating major birthdays today (or yesterday, ECT now). It's always kind of fun when you tell people your parents have the same birthday. They're always a little surprised when we tell them, and then say it's pretty cool.
Since they can both be considered "50's kids", we decided to go with 50's-themed cards for them. The first two cards are for our mom:
The first is a shaped card with a pair of roller skates. Our mom told us stories about her roller skating when she was a little girl (I think. If not, then I can picture a little Mom with pigtails skating. I may be thinking of something else totally...) The inside of this card reads, "with a Birthday hi!". The second card features an ice cream sundae and more of the super-fun and cheery colors. The inside of the card says "Wishing your birthday is as sweet as you!"
The other two cards are for our Dad:

The first is a red and black card with a musical theme. It was a toss up between this record and a jukebox, but figured either would work for him because he enjoys listening to the Golden Oldies and singing half the words to the songs. The outside of the card says, "For the record" and the inside reads, "You rock! Happy Birthday!" The fourth and final card is a 'Route 66'-themed card. We first saw the road sign, but couldn't figure out how to work with it, since it says 66 (and Dad's not quite there yet.) We decided to change it to read 65, instead. We also went with a vintage car to top it off. At least this one doesn't have any holes in the floorboard!
All four cards are multi-layered and have a ton of 3D poppers on them. (If you can't use googly eyes, 3D is the next best way to go!)
Thanks so much for stopping by! Enjoy the rest of the weekend!

Hairy Birthday!

Good afternoon! We hope everyone is having a fantastic Sunday so far. Apart from the whole losing an hour, but at least the sun will be up a little longer from now on. Today happens to be our brother's birthday, so today's project is the card we made for him:
We thought it was about time we got into the 'mustache' craze. Although he doesn't (or hasn't) sport a mustache, he has definitely tried to rock the beard, so we thought it was somewhat-fitting. As for the greeting, "Hairy Birthday", it was one of those sayings where I thought I was so clever, only to find other people have used it before. Oh well. The inside of the card reads, "How old are you today?" because everyone knows that after a certain age, one birthday is the same as any other and you lose track of time. Turns out he's 33 and doesn't act a day over 23.
Thanks for stopping by today!

Another BIrthday Card

Good morning! We hope everyone is having a great week so far. Like we mentioned yesterday, we've been keeping pretty busy. Today's project is one we worked on for one of Robyn's co-workers. The card is for a little girl's birthday:
This is another "new" technique we discovered. It goes by a few different names, including a card in a box or just a box card. It's nice because you have a lot more room to add decorations and pieces. This one could have used a few more decorations, in my opinion. The little white piece in front is lined in rhinestones and is just big enough for a quick little note.
And the whole card folds nicely into a square. The only unfortunate thing was that it didn't fit into any of our envelopes. I sure hope that's OK!!
Thanks so much for stopping by! Have a great day!

Happy Birthday, Cari!

Happy Monday! Oh, my, it's been quite a while since we posted here. It has been quite a busy month. It's been full of school and work (and sleeping). We've had many an orders to work on recently, which has taken up quite a bit of time. Anyway, we have a few new projects to share. I think we'll post them over the next few days so we have something to share! Today's card is for one of our friend's birthday.

So we were trying to go with a more "mature" card. It turned into this. (Hope she doesn't mind...But shouldn't everyone feel like a youngin' on their birthday?!) This is a new technique to us. It is a cascading card. This first picture is of it laying flat. This next picture is  how it looks standing up:
The hardest part of this was trying to figure out how to decorate it, which is one of the reasons it turned out like this. And the little puppy is her adorable little wiener dog! Happy Birthday, Cari!
Thanks for coming back and stopping by! We'll hopefully have a few more posts this week. Have a marvelous day!

Happy Birthday, Sis!

Happy Sunday afternoon! We hope you are all having a superb day so far. We've been getting ready to enjoy the short school week. Hopefully the kiddos will be on their best behavior this week. Today's project is another birthday card we made. This one is for our sister. It fits her personality quite well- bright and bubbly! And who doesn't like a cupcake on their birthday?! (Especially if you can't eat them in real life.)
The cupcake is layered, to pop out a bit. The little banner is also positioned to pop a little. The inside of the card has a 'sweet' saying, "Your birthday isn't about the number of candles you have to blow out, it's about the number of cupcakes you get!" Finding the right sentiment was the hardest part of making this card.
The paper we used is actually from a super-adorable new Christmas stack. It's called "Fa La La La " paper stack from Recollections. It was one of those purchases that was just calling our names. ( And on top of that, it was on sale! How can you go wrong?!)
Thanks so much for stopping by! Have a great day!

Happy Birthday, Twins!

We hope everyone is having a Terrific Tuesday so far. Today's project is a birthday card we made for our friends, the Twins. Although we have (technically) known each other since before we were born, we have been friends since high school. It was always fun at track meets when we'd run a twin relay. Or when we ran in the same races and confuse everyone. Or told other people that we were really cousins, and have them actually believe us. And even though we don't see them nearly as much as we'd like, we know they will always be there for us. It's a twin thing, I guess.
Here is the front of the card. It doesn't look like much, especially with the white background behind the cake.To spruce it up a bit, we used some glittered paper for the flames and accented the cake with some sparkly ink.
Here is the card, open. It is another easel card. We made the cake into an envelope, in order to hold a gift card. We were cliche when we made them the same card in different colors. Creative, I know ;)

Loads of Birthday Wishes

Happy Friday! We hope everyone had a wonderful week. We've had a super week and found some time to make a project or two for ourselves. Not much, other than a few cards here and there. But hopefully the weekend will be filled with something more exciting :)
Anyway, today is our little cousin's birthday. The little cutie is having a construction themed birthday (thanks Pinterest!), so we decided to make him a construction-themed card.
This card went through a few different phases- sizes, designs, shapes, etc. We wanted the front of the card to have his name and age on it, so that was a given. Our dilemma was what to do on the inside of  the card. We didn't want the words to be seen through the front of the card. So we added another layer:
We wanted to include the dump truck somewhere, so we chose this inside layer. And, of course, we added dots and layers, for that special touch! The third layer was the simplest one, with just a simple "happy birthday" note to the little guy:
So, here's a very Happy Birthday, cuz!!
Thanks for stopping by! Come back tomorrow for another Cupcake Saturday! It's been a while, but we have a very fall-ish cupcake to share!

Happy October!

Happy Tuesday! We know it's been a while, but we hope everyone had a great few days. We spent the weekend hunkered down. I know...we live in Washington, it's supposed to rain. But when it rains for three days and you get more than four times the monthly total in that three-day period, it makes it hard to want to do much, other than curling up in a warm blanket and reading. Or catching up on movies. Who could complain about that! So, now that the rain has finally stopped (for now), we can go back to our 'normal' schedules!
We can't believe it's already the first day of October- where has the time gone?! In our opinion, today starts the super-busy holiday season. It seems that we have a ton more projects to add to our always-growing list of things to do. So, for today's project, we have a quick Halloween invitation to share.
This invitation was inspired by the challenge at "Decorate to Celebrate" (a pretty awesome blog for some cute ideas). This is an invitation we came up with for an "over-the-hill" birthday party. It seemed like the most fitting thing to include was a little skeleton:
And why wouldn't he be wearing a little party hat?! We included some tombstones (hopefully they won't be needed!) And there isn't much that's creepier than a little spider making its way down near you...
Thanks so much for stopping by! Have a wonderful day!!

Happy Birthday, Coach!!

Happy Friday! We hope everyone has had a wonderful week so far. Only a few more hours to get through to the weekend. Anyway, today's project is a card we made for our high school track coach. He is celebrating his 80th birthday today!! How awesome is that?! And he doesn't look a day over 70 (honestly, the man doesn't age!!)
Over the years, he has been such a huge part of our lives (we've kind of unofficially adopted him as our grandpa...) and the lives of so many other people. We have been fortunate enough to have him both coach us and coach with him. And now, we always look forward to going home and the hours spent talking with him about everything that has happened, whether it's about the track team or the neighbor's goats. So, Coach, here's a huge Happy Birthday to you!!

Some Boo-tacular Halloween Decor

Happy Wednesday! We hope everyone is having a great day, and everyone is as happy as a camel on hump day! We've been super busy, working on holiday projects, some new and some that were supposed to be done last year. Oops. Anyway, today's post is part of a new Halloween party we are working on. This is the centerpiece we designed:
There are four different pieces to the centerpiece. The haunted house is 9" high and the two little monsters are about 4" tall. (Googly eyes make everything better, unless they are very different in size. Granted, the size difference is in the design, but still.)
The little moon is probably my favorite! It's not really that small, but it's just so darn cute! And the little bat just adds even more cuteness to it!
Like we mentioned before, it's part of a party line we've been working on. We have a ton more projects to share coming up!
Thanks for stopping by! Have a superb day!

Monsters Galore!

I hope everyone is having a great Monday! But if you're having a case of the Mondays, this will definitely cheer you up! We have a fantastic Monsters, Inc party set-up to share with you.

Even though no one we know is having a birthday party any time soon, and definitely not a Monsters, Inc one, it was super fun to make. The first part is a banner wishing the birthday kid a "Happy Boo-Day," and is surrounded by a cutout garland.

Next up is some door and/or wall decor. We made a wreath with Mike, Sulley, and Boo. Along with it, is a door hanger with the birthday kid's name and age.

Next up are the cards for the party. The invitation measures 5x7 with all of the party information. There is also a thank you note for after the fun, both with cutouts with the main characters.
Finally, we have a favor bag. This might be my favorite part of all. It is a flip down bag, or could be made with ribbon or string to tie it shut, and is modeled after Boo's door. We made a birthday card that looked like this, but it sure makes one really cool bag.

 Thanks for stopping by!

Spa Gift Set

Happy Friday, everyone! I hope the week went by pretty quick for you. I know it did here. We have a busy week coming up with family visiting!! We're definitely looking forward to that, and I know they are too, since they will be getting a reprieve from the Texas heat!
Anyway, today's project is perfect for a Friday afternoon, or weekend, or any time, really. We made this super cute relaxation kit for our brother's girlfriend's birthday.
We figured that after having to deal with our brother all the time, she needed something to help her relax! This box has everything she needs, except the wine, but only because they frown up sending wine through the mail... We were busy in the kitchen making the various scrubs and bath salts (not the drug kind, don't worry!) and decorated the mason jars with little labels. Michael's had some great finds in their Dollar Spot, or whatever they call it with all of their matching items. We went with the purple and teal color scheme, and found a really cute matching box, which is just a photo box.

The card to go with it is a 5x7 with a chica in the same color scheme. Since no birthday card is complete without some glitter, we added some to the bathtub to make the bubbles look extra inviting.

Here are the box and card together. I hope she enjoys some alone time with it!

Happy Birthday Cards

I hope everyone is having a great week so far! Just a couple more days till the weekend. We have some birthday cards to share today. We made three in coordinating brights, even though the camera didn't really do them justice.

The cards are A2 (4 1/4x5 1/2). They are sort-of shape cards that you can see in these two pictures.
But the fun part was making the embossed frosting. After some practice, I got it to look pretty smooth. I guess my paper cakes are like my actual cakes, when the frosting isn't quite right, but still looks pretty good. The finishing touch was a little puffy paint on the candle flame.

A (Belated) Birthday Card

So we finally broke down and finished off our Cricut Disney collection. Our Best of Pixar cartridge came in the mail today and we just had to try it out!! We also had a belated birthday card on our to-do list for almost a month. (How sad is that?) At least with school finishing up this week we will *hopefully* be better with being creative. So here's the card that we made!

The card is a tri-fold 4x6 card. The cartridge has a cut of Mike and Sulley waving out a door, but I couldn't quite figure out how to use it to make this card. Instead, I used two separate cuts to look like they were in the door, which was made to look like Boo's door (who's adorable self is on the inside). The card says, "You must think we're monsters... for forgetting your birthday. Happy Belated Birthday!" There is a pocket on the last section for a gift card to be slipped into. Extended birthdays are great, right?! Keep them coming!

Thanks for stopping by!
