A 'Super' Weekend!

Good afternoon, friends! I hope everyone is having a great weekend! The last few days have been pretty busy around here with some rather large orders. Almost all of the orders have been for superhero things, including favors and invitations. I'm pretty sure I can make the favors with my eye shut (OK, maybe with a little peak) In the last week, I've made 100+ of them, and that's not including the last (much smaller) order of 20 I need to finish up tonight. I was also asked to work on some custom, personalized invitations for a little soon-to-be 5-year-old's upcoming Spiderman-themed birthday party. This is the final product:
The customer wanted all of the information to be hidden below the band, so as you look at it, it says "Swing on by to celebrate Harper", with the Spiderman character on top. Hopefully I didn't forget any of the small pieces for her name... (I had a few extra that I'm not positive where they came from. I did a triple-check though, so hopefully it's all good...)
One of the little things I add to (almost) all of my orders is a card. Since most of the orders are for a birthday or special occasion, I figure a greeting card is usually needed. Since they usually use up some scraps and I know how big everything is supposed to be, they don't usually take too long. And sometimes it's the small things that make an impression! (Who wouldn't want to get a card like this? Much better than a store-bought one, in my opinon. But I guess that's not fair, huh?!) Anyway, I thought I would share some that I've made this week, starting with the Spiderman one:
These are two I made for a set of twins. One was dressing up as Super-girl and the other as Wonder Woman
There are a few others I've made, including Hulk, Superman, and Batman, but I think I'll keep them to myself for now and save them for another day!
I guess now that I'm all caught up with my orders, that means I should probably spend the rest of my weekend working on the boring stuff. Like cleaning the apartment... I'm pretty sure the parents wouldn't want to have to carefully maneuver around all the crafting stuff once they get here later this week! (By the way, totally looking forward to it!!)
Thanks so much for stopping by! Have a great day!

A Plethora of Projects!

Good morning, friends!! It has, unfortunately, been quite a long time since we’ve posted something new. Between the usual, school and work, we’ve been pretty busy. And on top of that, the kiddos have passed on the cold bug, so we had been fighting that, too. That was a huge pain, but it seems to have cleared up. Hopefully that’ll be the last of it, although the fall/winter season is in full swing here. The rain does help with the productivity- who wants to go outside in the rain?! In the little bit of healthy free-time we’ve had, we’ve been uber busy with our crafting projects, and a few projects for ourselves. We’ve had a handful of superhero projects- some invitations and a ton of bags, and this little set of a card and a banner we created for our little cousin’s Hulk-themed birthday:
We were also tasked with creating a few new bag designs. Here is a picture of some of our new ones, which include The Incredibles (no capes!), Robin, and the Ninja Turtles, though only two are shown
We also worked on some cards in the last few weeks, including these two “punny” cards. The first one is a card we sent out to our family and friends- a little farm-themed card that reads “Cow’s it Going?”. The other is one we wanted to post a while back, but never got to it. It is a fall inspired, little shape card that features a fox in a pile of leaves. The inside of the card reads “Sending you piles of smiles”

The biggest, most exciting news of the last few weeks is that our very close friend (hopefully she still thinks this…) and her husband are expecting a little one this April!! It’s all very exciting! We made a few cards to send to congratulate them:
How cute are these two?! The Winnie the Pooh card was inspired by the scrapbook paper that was used in some of the details, like the crib sheet. It’s kind of hard to see, but it’s there. And the paper has been in our collection for a while now, so we figured why not use it?! We also included a little basketball because they both used to play and are now gym teachers. And like all of our projects, we used a ton of pop dots! The second is a super cute side step card designed to look like a baby’s nursery. We included the dresser, with clothes and all, along with some toys and dolls. We couldn’t forget the crib with the sleeping baby and the mobile hanging over!
The last two projects we have to share are some Halloween ones we were working on. The first was a set of cards we made for our sister-in-law (don’t mind the pajama pants in the background- we got an early start that day!). These easel cards feature a little googly-eyed witch and her broom. We also embossed a spider web on the background and added some rhinestones in the corner of the card. The inside of the card reads “Witch-ing you a Happy Halloween” and a little bat that holds the easel up. And as with all cute, “girly” cards, there’s some sparkle, too!
The last project we’ve worked on was a banner we made for a customer. This one was a personalized Halloween banner that features two teddy bears, one a ghoulish witch and the other a spooky jack-o’-lantern.
We, of course, used pop dots on the characters and letters. We finished off with some rhinestones on the letters. Each piece is tied together with multiple colored ribbons and some glitter tulle!
Phew! Quite a long post today, huh?! Sorry about that! We probably could have (and maybe should have) done them individually. Hopefully we’ll finish and post some of our new holiday items that we've been working on and some holiday projects we have planned! Thanks for stopping by! Have a great day!

A New Superhero Banner to Share

Happy Thursday! We hope everyone is having a wonderful day, and week so far. As you've might have noticed, we've been staying busy trying to primp up our Etsy shop. We're hoping that the more items we have for sale, the better chance it'll help us grow. So, our goal for this month is to post at least two new items every day. So, as many of our followers know, we've had a lot of interest in our superhero bags. We decided it was time to make some other superhero things (and hope it helps us!) For today, we have added two new banners. Since they are relatively similar in design, we'll show the first one, which is a superhero "Happy Birthday" banner:
This one features Boy's favorite superhero Batman (he also happens to be one of the easier ones to create!)
The first spacer is Batman, with his little cape and crime fighting outfit, and his googly eyes (of course!) The middle space features three matching stars, and the last is the city in distress (or in this case, Gotham, I guess). Each letter and image has been pop-dotted, for the extra special touch, while each piece is tied together with multiple ribbons and tulle.
The other banner was a personalized banner, in this theme. For superheroes, he's quite a cutie! We're going to create a few other heroes, especially because we've also created a little Superman superhero for a valued customer a few months ago:
Thanks so much for stopping by! Have a great day!

A Superhero Get Well

Good morning! We hope you are having a great day so far. After our weekend "snow storm" (meaning four inches of slushy snow), our rainy winter season is starting. It's supposed to be rainy and windy all week. At the moment, not so much. But with the winter season, comes flu season. Today's card is one I put together for Boy, who has been stuck with the flu for the last week or so. I was inspired by his fondness of Batman (and maybe a little inspiration from all the superhero party supplies we've made over the last week.)
How cute is he?! I'm so happy with the way the little guy looks. The eyes are a little big, but oh well. The hardest part of the card was trying to figure out what to write. That's always the biggest problem. I settled on the outside reading "holy smokes, Batman" and the inside reading "it's about time you felt better!"
Unfortunately, I glued down the inside pieces before figuring out what to write, so I had to write it out by hand, and of course, I messed it up a bit. Oh well, hopefully he'll appreciate it, even though he is definitely not a card person.
Thanks for stopping by! Have a wonderful day!

Calling All Superheroes!

Happy Wednesday! We know it’s been a few days since we last posted, but we have been quite busy the last couple of days. Before we left, we decided to make this a working vacation. We had a few people who were interested in bags, so we brought all of our crafting things with us. Our Mom wasn’t too thrilled, but she got over it. At first, we had a relatively quick 40-bag order that was done in a few hours. Then, we had the tough one:
Phew! This was an order for 70 large party favors. This is the largest order we’ve had so far, which was super exciting, but an extra person or two to help would have been kind of nice! This picture isn't quite all of them. There are about 12 missing. These large ones can be a pain because they require us to assemble more pieces, and it’s a bit annoying. On top of that, the last week has been the 3-H’s that describe a typical Connecticut summer- hazy, hot, and humid. Seeing as we are tough New Englanders, the weather wasn’t unbearable, but nothing was working out like it was supposed to. It made assembling everything so much harder. And it took a lot longer than it should have because we tend to get off-task easier when it’s so hot. Anyway, it all got done. All we can hope is that they get to Texas in good shape!
Now it’s time to go work on some projects for tomorrow’s family picnic! We’ll post some pictures of these projects later this week!

Cupcake Saturday!

It's tme for another Cupcake Saturday! I bet you can't guess the theme for this week's cupcake... Oh, that's right, it's superheroes and princesses! These tiny cakes would be a big hit at a party!
First  up are our superhero cupcakes. These are vanilla cupcakes with vanilla frosting, topped off with a fondant superhero logo.
(It looks like the frosting was squished down just a little too far... Still tasty though!)
And here are our princess cupcakes. One thing we learned from these is to always have a back-up plan B. Originally, we were planning on making these:
How cute is that?! Our sister got this amazing Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs cakelet pan for our birthday and we thought this would be the perfect time to use it. And it was. Until it came time to decorate them. Willams-Sonoma (the brand that makes it) even have step-by-step directions on how to do it. So, we chose to do Dopey first, because he's just the cutest! Yeah, that was a disaster. So, then looking at the picture of them all decorated, we thought we'd try Sleepy, because he only had four (real) colors to work with and seemed to be pretty easy. This is how he came out:
He doesn't look horrible, and I love how he's leaning up against the wall to hold himself up. However, in our opinion, him alone would not be a very good Cupcake Saturday. Needless to say, we didn't even attempt to decorate Snow White. So, instead, we decided on plan B, which are these:
These can be used for any princess party! They are our vanilla cupcakes with a lemon buttercream. They are topped with a small, hand-cut fondant crown. It's a little hard to tell in the picture, but they are dusted in with a silver pearl dust, to give them a little shimmer.
Thanks for stopping by! Come back tomorrow for a new theme week- it'll be a family affair!

The Center of Attention!

Ahhh... Friday! Finally! We hope that everyone has had a good week, and we're sure you're all looking forward to the weekend. Today's projects are ones that we're pretty proud of and really excited to show off! Every party needs a little decor, so here they are- some party centerpieces we designed!
The first one is our princess centerpiece. As you can (hopefully) tell, it is Cinderella's coach, complete with two trusty stallions. It is a little hard to tell in the picture, but it is a 3D horse and carriage. You can see the two different horses, drawing the carriage. We absolutely love how this centerpiece came out! (Not to toot our own horn, but...)  There is also a little box (where the little blue tissue paper is), where you can put a little bouquet of flowers or, with some foam and picks, a very happy birthday wish.
And, of course, here is our superhero centerpiece. (OK, before anyone asks, we do not know a "Mason" who is turning 4. Since we used that name and age on the invitation, we decided to use the same information for the centerpiece) This one was super easy to put together. It seems to encompass most of the features of a comic- the city that is being saved, the action bubbles, and the colors. All it needs is someone to come save the day! This one was a lot easier to whip together, but we love how it looks. It is a nice and simple centerpiece to create for a special day.
Our original plan was to make something like this for both of the centerpieces, but then we decided that since they are two very unique party concepts, they needed their own different designs. (Also, we are aware that the television makes for an excellent backdrop...)
Anyway, I think that is all for today. Thank you so much for stopping by and come back tomorrow for another addition of Cupcake Saturday, which is sure to delight the superheros and princesses in all of us!

Birthday Banners!

Is it Friday yet?? We have another project to share with you. Well, two, since there's the princess one and the superhero one. Here are our birthday banners.

There are wands at the ends and a crown in the middle of the words, since every princess needs a crown and a fairy godmother with a wand! (Wouldn't that be nice?!)

Here's the superhero birthday banner, with a close-up of the "pow!" between the words. The other ones say "bam!" and "boom!"

They definitely finish off the party decorations! I bet any little one would love to have their own princess or superhero party. Who knows, maybe even some adults would want one, since who wouldn't want to be one or the other?!

Thanks for stopping by

One Way to Outfit a Party

Happy Wednesday! We hope everyone is having a great week so far.We have another fun party project to share today.  This is another two-parter, and and these favors are sure to get a best-dressed award ;) (in my opinion, at least!)
First, we have our set of princess party favors:
I absolutely love how these came out! How stinkin' cute are they?! We designed dresses to look like the princesses' signature looks. You can't see it on all of them, but they all are embossed a little, and Tinkerbell has some added glitter! They all have a matching ribbon, used to tie them closed.
I wouldn't even know where to begin to pick a favorite...So, now for our superheroes! We took the same idea (somewhat) and made these favors.
For these, we modeled the bags after the superheros' outfits. They're not quite as fancy as the princesses, but I already got scolded once for making the superheroes look "girly"...
These are the bags up-close. We even included capes, for those crusaders who never took the advice of Edna in The Incredibles: No Capes! (oh, youtube...) I guess they were before the jet turbines were a problem...
Phew! I guess that's all for today. Thanks for stopping by!

Adding Some Character to the Walls

Let's continue Princess and Superhero Week, shall we?! I'm pretty excited about today's post. Let's just say that it has definitely added some color and character to our bare apartment walls!

We figured that every princess needs some wall art to remind her that she is fabulous! Like it says, if the crown fits (you might as well wear it, right?!) We don't have any frames to put them in, but even by themselves, they look pretty good up on the wall.

And of course, we couldn't leave those superheroes out today. But since we aren't into the superhero thing, we decided that they have to share a space. Oh well. At least we remembered them! My favorite is definitely Spiderman. I'm pretty proud of how he came out.

Thanks for stopping by!

Don't Mess With A Princess

Hi there! Today we have some scrapbook layouts to share with you. The first one is our princess layout. The title is "Don't Mess With A Princess." There are two 4x6 photo mats and an area for some journalling. And since it's a princess layout, it needs some princesses on it!

And here's one for the boys. Our superhero layout is "My Super Hero."  Again, there are two photo mats and a spot for some notes. I am really happy with the way the logos came out. They took a lot of time to come up with, but were definitely worth it! And they look good at a small size, which is even better, since sometimes things just look messed up when they're small.

 Thanks for stopping by!

Holy Cake and Ice Cream!

Welcome to another week! We hope everyone is having a nice weekend. And with tomorrow being Labor Day, a long weekend is always nice. So, since today is Sunday, that means that we have a new theme for this week. Now, this isn't one that we would have come up with by ourselves. OK, part of it, maybe... Our sister was supposed to come visit us, and we were going to do this week of projects with her. Unfortunately, things didn't work out and her trip had to be rescheduled. Anyway, this week's theme is "Princesses and Superheros". I don't know if there is anyone out there who has never wanted to be one or the other. The two of us are hopeless romantics, so we love anything with a sappy, happy ending. As for the superheros, we never really got into them. That was our brother's area.
Alright, enough chatter. Since most of our weeks start off with an invitation of some sort, today is no different. We have two sets of invitations to share. These would be perfect for any child's birthday. Here ae the princess ones we came up with. I love the little poem at the beginning.
The ones above are Cinderella themed, complete with her glass slipper. However, they can be changed to match any of the other princesses. The band in the middle of the envelope can be changed to one of the below:
I think my two favorites are Snow White and Tiana. I think this is the first time Belle isn't at the top of my list... And now for our superheros! The invitation below features none other than Batman.

I love how this invitation turned out. I thought it was going to be harder to get the wording right (the princess one just came out and flowed nicely, if you know what I mean). But who knew there was an actual "superhero" font?! And just like the princesses, these can be changed to fit other characters.
And I am fully aware that Captain America, like most superheros, probably wouldn't be very happy with a "flower" shield, as our brother put it. Oh well.
Wow, that was longer than I thought. Thanks for stopping by!
